Daytime Chef

CARMEN is hiring a driven Daytime Chef to independently lead our kitchen and shape the food program. We source high-quality ingredients and focus on seasonal, nourishing cooking. The ideal candidate brings several years of professional culinary experience, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to run a busy daytime service with consistency and creativity.

Key responsibilities

- Lead day-shift kitchen operations, menu execution, and plating standards

- Develop and refine seasonal dishes using high-quality ingredients

- Manage prep, inventory, ordering, and food cost control

- Maintain cleanliness, food-safety compliance, and organised workstations

- Train and coordinate small kitchen team; work independently during service

 

Qualifications

- Several years’ professional cooking experience, preferably in a fast-casual or restaurant environment

- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage prep and service flow

- Knowledge of food costing, inventory management, and basic menu development

- Commitment to seasonal, ingredient-forward cooking and consistent standard

- Daytime working hours with at least one weekend day required; food-safety certification a plus
