Presenting Borrowed Time by Kita Rancaño Ward, a series of works exploring the ephemerality of light and time.

The birth of her daughter, Simone, marks an evolution, a refinement of the creative process. Although her perception of time has shifted, the source material remains the same. Each form drawing from a personal photographic archive, a collection of light, darkness and shadows.

The works are an expression of what’s possible. The improbability of making alongside all of the things that can, and do take place while others sleep, in the moments between meals, applications and work.

The artwork is a reflection of that borrowed time. They’re unlaboured, and rendered in oil bar, a departure from her stretched works. The act of surrendering to a new rhythm ultimately leading to an altered process, one rooted in clarity and freedom.
